New Zealand could become the first country to renounce traditional telephone networks

New Zealand could become the first country in the world, refused entirely on the use of traditional telephony networks, and the move to VoIP- communication, which will be based on next-generation network (NGN). The necessity of non- conventional public telephone network is contained in the official document issued by the Ministry of Economic Development of the country, according to TelecomWeb.
Despite the fact that the worldwide trend to move to IP-telephony in New Zealand, this process seems to go faster just because the local phone company is using obsolete equipment, for which no longer exists sufficient spare parts. One of the major problems are still unsolved supporters switching to VoIP, is based IP-telephony systems from an external power supply. Observers point out that in case of problems with the supply of electricity, VoIP users are left without communications, while the traditional phone line has its own line voltage. A partial solution is to install UPS systems, but their operation is intended only for a few hours.
Another problem is the inability to use the NGN- networks of the old analog modems. But representatives of the Ministry believes that, because now 93% of New Zealanders are able to connect to the line DSL, then by the time the old modem will have to be attributed to a landfill, it should not be disturbed by the mass consumer.
In theory, the rejection of the public telephone network in New Zealand can take place in 2012. Experts, however, as a more realistic date referred to in 2015.
